Al Moran
From The Met Wiki
Al Moran was an infielder for the Mets in 1963 and 1964. He played in 135 games as a shortstop and third baseman. Moran had 69 hits as a member of the Mets.
Moran became a Met as completion of a trade with the Boston Red Sox. On December 11, 1962, the team dealt Felix Mantilla to Boston for Tracy Stallard, Pumpsie Green and a player to be named. Al came to the Mets a month later to finalize the deal.
In 1963, Moran was the Mets' primary shortstop. He had 23 runs batted in and 76 total bases for the season. At the Polo Grounds on April 21, Al had two singles, a triple and two RBIs in the Mets' 9-2 win over the Milwaukee Braves in the second game of a doubleheader. He singled twice and drove in a run as the Mets defeated the Dodgers, 5-1, at Los Angeles on July 30. Against Warren Spahn on August 31, Moran hit his only major league home run in the Mets' 4-3 loss to the Braves at the Polo Grounds.
Al played in 16 games for the Mets in 1964. He scored two runs on the season, both of which came in the Mets' 6-0 triumph over the Pirates for their first win ever at Shea Stadium on April 19. At Shea on May 7, Moran had two singles and an RBI in the Mets' 3-2 win over the Reds.
Moran completed the '64 season with AAA-level Buffalo. He played two more seasons in the minor leagues to finish his career.
