Amado Samuel was an infielder for the Mets in 1964. He had 7 doubles among 33 hits and 7 runs batted in with the team. Samuel played in 53 games as a Met.

Samuel was purchased by the Mets from the Milwaukee Braves on October 15, 1963. He began the '64 season as the Mets' regular shortstop. In the season opener at Philadelphia on April 14, Amado had two singles and a run scored in the Mets' 5-3 loss to the Phillies. In the first game ever at Shea Stadium on April 17, he hit a two-run double in a 4-3 Mets loss to the Pirates. Samuel hit a game-tying single in the 12th inning of the Mets' 6-5 win over the Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea on June 9. Over a five-game span from June 26 to June 29, he went 6-for-18 for a .333 batting average. In the last of these games, Amado doubled twice as the Mets defeated the Giants, 4-3, at San Francisco.

In July of '64, Samuel was sent to the Mets' AAA-level team in Buffalo to finish out the year. He played the 1965 and 1966 seasons in the Mets' system. Amado ended his playing career in the minor leagues in 1967.
