1965: The Mets defeat the Astros, 5-4, on Bobby Klaus's home run in the 10th inning. The Mets also pull off a triple play in the game.

1972: The Mets defeat the Pirates, 4-0, on Opening Day at Shea Stadium. Tom Seaver and Tug McGraw combine for a five-hit shutout.

1981: In the 20th home opener in team history, the Mets defeat the Cardinals, 5-3, at Shea Stadium.

1997: The Mets defeat the Dodgers, 5-0, at Shea Stadium on the golden anniversary of Jackie Robinson's major league debut.

1998: Rick Reed pitches seven shutout innings and picks up the win as the Mets defeat the Cubs, 2-1, at Shea Stadium. Reed drives in both Met runs with a two-run homer.

2002: The Mets rebound from a five-run deficit to defeat the Braves, 7-6, in 12 innings.

2005: Aaron Heilman pitches a one-hit shutout over the Florida Marlins. The Mets win, 4-0.

2009: The Mets record their first victory at Citi Field, 7-2, over the San Diego Padres. Oliver Perez gets his first win of the season.
