Bad Start The Mets won opening day and then dropped six of the next seven, prompting loud calls for Manuel and Minaya's heads.
The Mets won two of the next three, a brilliant performance by Mike Pelfrey in Colorado, and then a remarkable 20 inning victory in St. Louis, the Mets longest victory ever.
The Mets dropped the next game to their old nemesis Adam Wainwright. With the loss the Mets dropped them to 4-8, having losing two of three in each of their first four series.
Shock and Awe The Mets sent down Mike Jacobs and called up Ike Davis to play first as they returned home for a ten game homestand against the Cubs, Braves, and Dodgers.
The Mets took the first two behind great pitching by Jonathon Niese and Mike Pelfrey. After losing 9-3 the Mets began an eight game winning streak that closed out the month.
