1970: Tom Seaver sets a new record with 10 consecutive batters struck out in a game. The Mets defeat the San Diego Padres, 2-1, as Seaver finishes the game with 19 strikeouts.

1979: The Mets come from behind to defeat the Phillies, 4-2, at Philadelphia. Jesse Orosco records his first major league win.

1990: Sid Fernandez pitches a two-hit shutout in a 5-0 Mets win over the Expos at Shea Stadium.

1994: Jeromy Burnitz and David Segui hit home runs for all the Mets' scoring in a 3-1 win over the Giants at San Francisco.

1998: The Mets defeat the Astros, 10-7, at Shea Stadium. Rich Becker homers in the eighth inning to tie the game. Jim Tatum hits a three-run homer in the ninth to win it.

2006: Mike Piazza plays his first game against the Mets since leaving the team. Piazza hits a home run off Pedro Martinez, who does not give up any other runs and becomes the winning pitcher.
