1962: The Mets trade Bobby Gene Smith to the Chicago Cubs for Sammy Taylor. The team also acquires Harry Chiti from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later. Chiti is returned to Cleveland on June 15.

1970: Tom Seaver pitches a complete game with no walks. The Mets defeat the Dodgers, 3-1, in Los Angeles. Mike Jorgensen's first major league home run serves as the game-winner.

1971: Tom Seaver pitches a complete game with no walks. The Mets defeat the Cardinals, 12-2, in St. Louis. The Mets get 17 hits in the game, 10 of them against Bob Gibson.

1972: Tom Seaver pitches a complete game with no walks. The Mets defeat the Padres, 5-1, in San Diego. Jim Fregosi and Tommie Agee hit home runs to drive in all the Mets' runs.

1974: Tom Seaver pitches a complete game shutout with no walks. The Mets defeat the Giants, 4-0, in San Francisco.

1977: The Mets trade Rick Auerbach to the Texas Rangers for Lenny Randle.

1988: Keith Hernandez drives in seven runs in a 13-4 Mets win over the Braves at Atlanta. In the game, Keith hits a grand slam that gives him 1,000 RBIs for his career.

1995: The Mets lose to the Rockies, 11-9, in the first game ever at Coors Field. Rico Brogna hits the first home run at the new ballpark in Denver.

2002: Shawn Estes pitches a one-hit shutout against the Brewers at Shea Stadium. The Mets win, 1-0, on Jay Payton's second inning home run off Glendon Rusch.
