1969: Nolan Ryan earns the first of his three career saves. The Mets defeat the Expos, 9-5.

1976: The Mets defeat the Expos, 3-2, in the season opener at Shea Stadium.

1985: In his Mets debut, Gary Carter hits a home run in the 10th inning for a 6-5 win over the Cardinals.

1991: The Mets defeat the Phillies, 2-1, at Shea Stadium. Rick Cerone hits a game-tying home run in the ninth and Hubie Brooks homers in the tenth to win it.

1994: Bret Saberhagen pitches a complete game five-hitter in an 8-2 Mets win over the Astros at Houston.

2004: The Mets begin a three-game series in San Juan, Puerto Rico with a 3-2 win over the Montreal Expos. Todd Zeile drives in the winning run with a double in the top of the 11th inning.

2006: The Mets defeat the Marlins, 3-2, to complete a sweep of a three-game series at Shea Stadium. David Wright drives in all the Mets' runs with a triple and a sacrifice fly.

2007: In their first home game of the season, the Mets score seven runs in the eighth inning for an 11-5 win over the Phillies at Shea Stadium.

2010: The Mets defeat the Washington Nationals, 8-2, at Citi Field. Rod Barajas and Jeff Francoeur each hit two home runs and Ruben Tejada gets his first major league hit.

2012: The Mets defeat the Nationals, 4-3, at Citi Field. Daniel Murphy drives in the winning run with a ninth-inning single and Kirk Nieuwenhuis hits his first major league home run.
