José Alexander "Alex" Cora (born October 18, 1975 in Caguas, Puerto Rico) is a Major League Baseball infielder no longer for the New York Mets.

On January 22, 2009 Alex Cora signed a one-year deal and he was told to be the clubhouse leader. Once the 2009 season was over he got re-signed by the Mets for another year and an option for the 2011 season. In Spring Training he has been voted by Mets fans tat he will be the opening day Shortstop replacing Jose Reyes for the most of April. He is competeing against Ruben Tejada for the opening day Shortstop postion.

He was let go by the Mets and became a free-agent. But later during the 2010 MLB Season he signed with the Texas Rangers and he met old friend also from the Mets Jeff Francoeur.
