Stokes threw his first pitch in the majors on September 3, 2006 as a Tampa Bay Ray. Now as a Met he is considered by many the only good middle relief pitcher for the Mets.

In 2008 for the Mets he was 1-0 with a 3.51 ERA and 1 save. And even thou he blew two saves he is still the third best reliever in the Mets' bullpen (as you already know the first and second best are Francisco Rodriguez and J.J Putz.

On January 22,2010 he was traded by the Mets for outfielder Gary Matthews Jr. to LA.
