[edit] In Seattle
J.J Putz was great for the Mariners in 06 and 07. He had over 35 saves in each of those seasons with a ERA no higher then 2.30. He was an All-Star in the 2007 season and also won the Rolaids Relief Man of the Year Award that season.
[edit] Coming to New York
J.J came to the Mets in a three team twelve player deal that sent Aaron Heilman and Endy Chavez to the Mariners. The Mets also got Jeremy Reed and Sean Green in the deal. Putz will be the 8th inning guy because the Mets signed Francisco Rodriguez to be their closer. On June 5 the Mets put Putz on the DL and Fernando Nieve came up to the majors
In the 2009 season Putz only pitched 29.1 innings with a 5.22 ERA before going down for the season on June 9.
On November 6 officially decline option on Putz for the next season.
