Ken made his first major league debut May 2 as a 40 year old. He threw 2.1 innings and got out of a bases loaded one out Jam left to him by Oliver Perez with a double play.

He came up to the Majors as the Mets sent down Casey Fossum on April 17. It was considered letting Ken start after Oliver Perez had a bad start against the Phillies on May 2. But at the end the Mets gave Jon Niese Perez's start and left Takahashi in the bullpen.

He ended up going 0-1 on the season and was let go by the Mets on October 20.
