Omir has been great since coming up to the Mets. He had two big hits with the Mets this season.
The first was on April 27 when he hit the first Grand Slam in Citi Field in a 7-1 Mets win over the Marlins. On May 23 in Fenway Park he came up against great closer Jonathan Papelbon representing the Mets final out, but he hit a two run homer to give the Mets a 2-1 lead that they would hold on to.
Some Met fans think that Omir should be the Mets' everyday catcher and not split time with Brian Schneider, and the numbers are in favor of Omir.
Before coming to the Mets Omir played in the Yankees minor league system and played a bit for the O's. He was signed by the Mets on December 23, 2008.
